At the Sintra palaces belonging to the Monte da Lua network — which includes Pena Palace — I only ever shoot with official authorization.!
Quinta da Regaleira isn’t part of this network, so it has its own separate rules and pricing (happy to cover that in another post if you’re curious).
So, here’s how it works. During our shoot, security actually stopped by three times to check we had a permit
The upside: having one also means skipping the huge queues.
For photoshoots (including weddings and private sessions with a hired photographer) at the palaces and parks of Sintra run by the state authority Parques de Sintra, the official image usage fee (taxa de utilização da imagem) is €150 per session.
What’s included:
access to the grounds for a group of up to 6 people total (models and photographer included).
- covers gardens and outdoor terraces only — going inside
- the palaces themselves isn’t included and is regulated separately, and professional or specialized-equipment photography is banned in many rooms.
More than 6 people? Each extra person needs a regular entrance ticket.
